Roads
& Transportation Group
The Elgin South sub group met on 2nd July to consider traffic orders
received from Transportation Manager, Gordon Holland. The proposed
road traffic orders considered waiting restrictions on various roads in
Elgin. There was a quick response time required so it was not possible
to consult with all members. If you would like to be part of this
focus group in the future, then please let Rebecca know. The focus
group responded as per letter in correspondence. |

Active
Travel Focus Group
A sub group met with Chris Thompson, Active Travel coordinator on 26th
June to consider the Safer Choices, Safer Places bid for Moray. The
sub group offered several points for future consideration for stage 2 of the
bid. These included the need for training packages for adults, as they
may need to refresh their cycling skills/highway code having additional
responsibility for their children cycling along side them and also the need
for better links with core paths and recreational areas etc. The forms
have since put together a report offering community support for the funding
to be awarded to Moray under the community engagement section of the
bid. This report is available in correspondence. |

Linkwood
Residents Action Group
Linkwood Residents Action Group met on 9th July and have launched a
"See it, Report it" campaign for their area in partnership with
the Community Warden, Crime Stoppers and Grampian Police. Flyers have
been distributed to all homes in Linkwood. This is to ensure that any
antisocial behaviour or crime is reported to the correct agencies and if
additional resources are needed, then will be redirected to meet the needs
of the community. The main thrust of the group now is to build a
stronger community at Linkwood. They are considering organising a gala
day to include all families on the estate, but realise this is a big
undertaking and it may be necessary to start planning now for an event next
year. |

securing a grant from the Moray Food and Health Group for the sum of
£500.00. This will go towards the investigation costs of setting up
community allotments. Both the Estates Department and the Planning
Department at The Moray Council have been very helpful in giving

up these interests to avoid duplication and to share information and
knowledge. |

Forum has reserved £300.00 towards the next edition. |

Elgin
Entranceway Beautification Scheme
The group taking forward this scheme is still finding it challenging to
find someone to take on the coordination role. Also some of the sites
highlighted for possible flowerbeds may be part of the proposed Elgin
bypass. A meeting will be arranged soon once a coordinator is
identified. |
