Improved Disabled Access in Forres House

Earlier this year the Forres Forum achieved a notable success in negotiations with Forres House Community Centre and the Council's Educational Services over disability access to the Community Centre.

One of the Forum members is a wheelchair user, which meant he was unable to access the upper floor of the building due to health and safety restrictions.  Following representations from the Forum, an Evac. Chair was purchased and installed in Forres House, which enables safe evacuation of disabled users in an emergency.  Four members of the Forum underwent the training required to use the Evac. Chair, which means the Forum is able to meet in any room in Forres House.

The key for the lift is also available to be signed out, giving further independence to disabled people using the centre.
