Community Engagement Seminar

The Community Engagement Seminar held on October 27th at Elgin Town Hall was well attended with over 60 participants from the Community Planning Partnership and Community representatives. The purpose of the seminar was to raise awareness of the priorities for the partnership with regard to community engagement. A well received presentation was given by the keynote speaker, David Jones from the Consultation Institute; (http://www.consultationinstitute.org/home/), which focussed on meaningful and effective consultation. The outline of the community engagement manual was launched, followed by a number of activities facilitated by senior managers from the partnership to demonstrate the planning process required for effective consultation..

Feedback from the event was generally very positive with most people saying that they found the seminar informative, interesting and the emphasis on collaborative working of particular benefit. The next seminar is planned for March 2012 and preparations for this are already underway.
