Milton Drive Community Project (The Well) (start date October 2009)
Seven month - Feasibility Study – Total project cost £20,000
£10,000 funded by the FSF (50% match funded by LEADER)
The Milton Drive Community Project is a community based project which was established in response to a need to improve the take up of services by residents living in the locality of Buckie Millbank and surrounding areas. The area has suffered from growing social issues and is in the top 20% most deprived in Scotland in relation of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2009.
The project which was established in 2007 has been shaped by the local community, led by a local committee, and provides a number of activities provided through multi agency input including housing and debt advice, health advice parenting groups, employability provision, discussion and social groups. The target group are residents living in the target area many who are unemployed and socially isolated. Due to increased demand from local residents the project has outgrown their existing premises and a new larger premise has been identified.
The funding provided by the Fairer Scotland Fund and Leader will allow the completion of a feasibility study to identify the appropriateness of the new building in meeting the needs of the community. The study will include community consultation to identify what the future service provision should look like and what activities should be provided, development of a business plan, and production of full costings and planning applications for the development of the new premises. Following completion of the study the project will seek funding for the purchase and refurbishment of the of the new premises.

NHS Mobile Information Bus
Review and redesign of existing service - 12 months funding – total project cost - £28,146.00
£12,000 funded by the FSF (balance from NHS Grampian)
The Mobile Information bus has been providing information and advice on all health and lifestyle issues to support young people to make positive lifestyle choices since 2000. The funding from the Fairer Scotland Fund will facilitate a review of this existing service in order to increase its usage and more effectively engage with young people and other high priority groups from disadvantaged and rural communities. Consultation with young people has indicated that they want to bus more accessible and available. It is also proposed that the bus will be utilised more extensively as a partner resource
